Greentech solution

Traditional fuel additives are fossil fuel based, often formulated from waste refinery products such as naphthalene or xylene. They work in the same way as adding lighter fluid to a fire to make the combustion of fuel burn harder and brighter. It is simply adding fossil fuels to the problem of fossil fuels. This is not a solution for decarbonisation.

ElimiNOX Eco™ is made from natural sustainable & biodegradable ingredients and offers an immediate step towards net zero.

The test results have been declared as ‘game changing’ for the diesel engine, environmental pollution and the health problems associated with diesel engine pollutants.

An odourless, tasteless, poisonous gas, CO, that results from the incomplete combustion of carbon.

Inhalation causes central nervous system damage and asphyxiation. Breathing air with a high concentration of CO reduces the amount of oxygen that can be transported in the bloodstream to critical organs like the heart and brain.

A colourless, odourless, incombustible gas resulting from the oxidation of carbon. Carbon dioxide, a key greenhouse gas that drives global climate change, emissions mainly come from burning organic materials such as diesel. Carbon dioxide is the primary greenhouse gas, responsible for about three-quarters of emissions. It can linger in the atmosphere for thousands of years. In 2018, carbon dioxide levels reached 411 parts per million at Hawaii’s Mauna Loa Atmospheric Baseline Observatory, the highest monthly average ever recorded.

New mandatory CO2 standards for the years 2025 and 2030 were adopted in early 2019. For passenger cars, average fleet-wide emissions will have to be reduced by 15 % by 2025 and by 37.5 % by 2030, with respect to a 2021 baseline. CO2 emission levels for these new targets will be measured in the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP), which became mandatory for new vehicles in September 2018.

For heavy-duty vehicles, CO2 emissions will have to be reduced by 15 % by 2025 and 30 % by 2030, with respect to a 2019 baseline (Rodríguez, 2019). A regulatory proposal is expected from the European Commission in mid-2021 which will strengthen the CO2 targets for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles to bring them in line with the EU’s ambition to cut greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55 % by 2030.

Nitrogen oxides—which is commonly defined by emission regulations and regulatory measurement protocols—include two gases: nitric oxide NO and nitrogen dioxide NO2. both are non-flammable and colourless to brown at room temperature. Nitric oxide is a sharp sweet-smelling gas at room temperature, whereas nitrogen dioxide has a strong, harsh odour and is a liquid at room temperature.

NOx mainly impacts on respiratory conditions causing inflammation of the airways at high levels. Long term exposure can decrease lung function, increase the risk of respiratory conditions, and increase the response to allergens.

NOx also contributes to the formation of fine particles (PM) and ground-level ozone, both of which are associated with adverse health effects.

NOx is considered one of the critical pollutants found in emissions from all types of internal combustion engines. Nitrogen oxides are highly active ozone precursors playing an important role in smog chemistry. They can also form secondary nitrate particulates in the atmosphere.

A colourless gas with an irritating pungent odour. It readily dissolves in water and is one of the main chemicals that cause acid rain. Breathing in sulphur dioxide causes irritation of the nose and throat. Exposure to higher concentrations can cause nausea, vomiting, stomach pain and corrosive damage to the airways and lungs. Causes severe skin burns and eye damage.

Particulate matter – is responsible for the black smoke traditionally associated with diesel-powered vehicles. Diesel particulate matter emissions are usually abbreviated as PM or DPM, the latter acronym being more common in occupational health applications. The existing medical research suggests that PM is one of the major harmful emissions produced by diesel engines. Diesel particulate matter is subject to diesel emission regulations worldwide.

Due to the small size of many of the particles that form PM some of these toxins may enter the bloodstream and be transported around the body, lodging in the heart, brain and other organs. Therefore, exposure to PM can result in serious impacts on health, especially in vulnerable groups of people such as the young, elderly, and those with respiratory problems. As a result, particulates are classified according to size.

In comparison, the average diameter of human hair equals 50-70 µm.

Euro 5 to Euro 6 Fuel Emissions Compliance

Petrol and diesel combustion engines inevitably produce emissions as part of their normal operation. The Euro 6 standards were introduced within the EU to try and ensure vehicle manufacturers keep harmful emissions below specific limits. The rules cover Nitrogen Oxide (NOx), Carbon Monoxide (CO), Particulate Matter (PM).
Limits are different for petrol and diesel engines.

Heavy-Duty Truck and Bus Engines- Euro V and earlier emission standards apply to all motor vehicles with a “technically permissible maximum laden mass” over 3,500 kg, equipped with compression ignition engines or positive ignition natural gas (NG) or LPG engines.

Euro VI standards apply to M1, M2 (vehicles carrying passengers), N1 and N2 (vehicles carrying goods) motor vehicles with a reference mass exceeding 2,610 kg and to all M3 and N3 motor vehicles. The Euro VI standards are also not limited to any particular engine types but apply to all motor vehicles including those with compression ignition engines, positive ignition engines (including NG/biomethane, petrol, LPG and E85) as well as dual-fuel engines.

By adding 0.05% ElimiNOX Eco™ to a tank of fuel, it is possible for a vehicle that would normally just meet the Euro 5 Standards to comfortably meet the Euro 6 standards, without any modification.

Providing immediate benefit in emissions reduction and between 8-9% improvement in fuel efficiency. With up to 30% reduction on CO2 emissions – offering an immediate step towards net-zero for all diesel and petrol-powered engines.

When it comes to choosing between saving money or saving the planet ElimiNOX Eco™ makes it easy – you no longer have to choose you can save between 8-15% savings from improved fuel efficiency and make an immediate step towards net-zero through up to 30% reduction in CO2.  Whereas planting trees and carbon offsetting has to benefit ElimiNOX Eco™ delivers immediate benefit in the communities where the emissions are generated and across more than just CO2.

As both ElimiNOX Eco™ and Berol® 6446 are pre-burn solutions no engine or exhaust system modification is required – simply treat the fuel and take the benefits.

Actual benefits will depend upon the specific application, from a Euro VI (the latest European emissions management technology) engine 18% CO2 reduction has been demonstrated in real-world usage, additionally, reductions in up to 30% CO2 reduction have been demonstrated along with significant reductions in particulate matter across road diesel, red diesel and HVO.

ElimiNOX Eco™ achieves these results by enabling more complete combustion and additionally by emulsifying water into the fuel, something a traditional non-emulsified diesel simply cannot do.  ElimiNOX Eco™ has a wide range of applications across petrol & diesel-powered equipment and vehicles for on-road, off-road, rail and marine use.

Resulting in:

  • Lower exhaust temperature.
  • Significantly reduced gaseous emissions.
  • Production of less smoke & soot and harmful Particulate Matter.
  • Reduced contamination of engine oil, extending engine life.
  • Reduced fouling of ignition and fuelling components.
  • Reduced corrosion of engine parts & reduced failure of lubricating films.

Designed specifically as a fuel conditioner and it is highly effective at preventing water contamination in all stored diesel fuels, heavy plant and machinery, including generators and on-road/off-road transport. ElimiNOX Eco™ is a pre-combustion fuel conditioner that reduces emissions and creates a more efficient burn on the ignition, providing additional lubricity and reduced fuel consumption.

Manufactured from natural products and biodegradable, as a pre-combustion technology ElimiNOX Eco™ modifies the combustion flame to reduce soot and gas emissions.

ElimiNOX Eco™ Fuel Conditioner is compatible with all diesel fuels and engines. Simply added to your fuel tank, will scavenge free water from your system. This reduces corrosion and clears residue, which improves efficiency and modifies the flame characteristics, thus reducing emissions and wear.

ElimiNOX is looking to accelerate its growth both in Wales and on a World Wide basis with the assistance of Gary Rawlings.

ElimiNOX, now has a presence in Wales under the direction of Gary Rawlings.

We believe Gary’s experience will make huge contributions toward fulfilling our mission, as this expansion comes at a moment with the UK is hosting the COP26 climate change summit and amid mounting concern among scientists that countries are not doing enough to limit the emissions of greenhouse gases. With many technologies that are being developed still years away from large-scale implementation, ElimiNOX Eco™ is available here and now and will have a significant immediate impact on both diesel and petrol driven engines.

ElimiNOX Eco™ has consistently shown fuel efficiency improvements of up to 10% in cars, vans, buses, and trucks, providing an increasingly recognized solution to immediately combat global warming and air pollution. With a combination of laboratory tests and real-world usage substantiating significant reduction in emissions including Carbon Dioxide, Nitrogen Oxides, and Particulate Matter as a pre-combustion technology ElimiNOX Eco™ reduces emissions at source requiring no engine or exhaust modification bringing immediate benefit to the communities in which air pollutants from carbon emissions are being generated.

“In a recent report, the International Energy Agency (IEA) stated that the world’s reliance on hydrocarbon liquid fuels will continue for many years and is likely to account for 80-90% of transport energy consumption in 2030“.

We calculate we could potentially take away the carbon equivalent of over five million cars from the roads and reduce CO2 by ten million metric tons in the UK alone. Given our products comply with fuel standards, there are no technical barriers to making this happen.

I am very pleased that ElimiNOX has announced the opening of this office. ElimiNOX Eco™ brings an immediate solution to address the April 2019 climate emergency declaration by the Welsh Government in relation to the challenges of climate change, which threatens the health, economy, infrastructure and the natural environment of Wales.

The benefits for Automotive, Agriculture, Marine and Haulage sectors are the increased economical advantages as well as huge savings and further longevity on vehicles overall. ElimiNOX can not only provide a solution to eliminating harmful pollutants in diesel engines, but it can also dramatically save hundreds of £££’s on vehicle costs. The results are proven.

Four out of five diesel engine failures are a result of the dreaded diesel bug, so don’t become yet another victim of this avoidable statistic, start using ElimiNox. Unlike other diesel bug treatments which only kill the diesel bug after it has already built up, ElimiNox is unique because it eliminates the most common cause of diesel bug – the water in which it grows. ElimiNox eliminates the water by suspending it as an emulsion within the diesel, removing the growth medium where the diesel bug thrives and actively prevents diesel bug growth between re-fuelling. Using ElimiNox pays for itself by helping save the cost of expensive engine failures, extends your engines life, reduces service intervals, improves your engine’s fuel efficiency.

The ElimiNox Eco product has now been certified by Bureau Veritas to be compliant with EN590 fuel and an increase of over 30% improvement in Lubricity.

Why treat the symptom when you can eliminate the cause using.

Why treat the symptom when you can eliminate by using ElimiNOX.

There is no doubt that diesel and petrol engines have contributed considerably to global pollution and as a result the UK government is introducing a ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel cars to be introduced in 2035. Many health issues such as heart and lung disease have been attributed to petrol and diesel vehicle pollutants and emissions of nitrogen oxides (Nox) regularly exceed safe levels in many cities. Petrol and diesel vehicles produce the overwhelming majority of roadside Nox gases.

Eliminox Eco Fuel Conditioner addresses these and the following problems.

• Removing carbon deposits from spark plugs/cylinder head/valves
• Eliminox Eco Fuel Conditioner will prevent E10 causing separation helping improve performance, saving money and significantly reduces toxic emissions
• Modifying and improving the combustion flame to reduce soot and gas emissions
• Better Acceleration, smoother performance and quieter engine
• Reducing acid products of combustion Increases Lubricity.
• Reducing soot and acid contamination of engine oil, extending oil life and reducing maintenance
• Improves fuel efficiency (MPG)
• Extends engine life
• Manufactured from natural products and is biodegradable
• Ensures classic cars are running at peak performance with reduced emissions before MOT is due.
ElimiNOX Eco™ dramatically reduces all the environmental pollutants produced by petrol and diesel engines. The product has been rigorously and successfully tested by world-renown fuel laboratories including Socotec Laboratories and Millbrook Proving Ground, based in the U.K. The test results have been declared as ‘game changing’ for environmental pollution and the health problems associated with combustion engine exhaust pollutants and increased engine efficiency.

Not only does Eliminox Eco Fuel Conditioner dramatically reduce petrol and diesel engine pollutants, it enables petrol and diesel engines to perform far more efficiently. Eliminox Eco Fuel Conditioner will also clean all stored fuel when added to fuel storage tanks, and ensures diesel bugs are both eliminated and prevented, keeping fuel in pristine condition.

E10 Petrol to be introduced from September 1st.

As has been seen in recent days the world is heating up at an alarming rate. The introduction of the new E10 petrol is upon us in an effort to reduce fossil fuel usage, but very few people realise the unintended consequences that it will bring, and for many petrol engines this could be very serious particularly in older and classic cars. E10 contains Ethanol which has less energy than petrol and will result in around a 2% drop in performance. We believe that Eliminox Eco Fuel Conditioner will compensate for this loss in performance.

The main problem with E10, however, is that the added ethanol encourages separate layers of water and fuel to form in the tank – All fuel contains water – up to 200ppm, but also, consider the extra water that fuel tanks gain over time purely from condensation. This typically gathers and sits in a separate layer at the bottom of the fuel tank where the fuel line draws from. Chemically speaking, Ethanol prefers to mix with water as opposed to petrol and where there is sufficient of both, the ethanol will leave the petrol and combine with the water to form an even larger separate layer at the bottom of the tank. The fuel line then draws from this watery alcohol mixture, and it is pumped directly into the engine causing disastrous damage and breakdowns. This is often the cause of cars going into “limp home mode” over the winter. E10 is going to exacerbate this issue because more ethanol encourages more separation.

Eliminox Eco Fuel Conditioner petrol conditioner is the solution to this problem. The powerful emulsifying properties in Eliminox Eco Fuel Conditioner lifts the water and redistributes it throughout the fuel in the tank preventing separation and protecting against breakdowns and engine damage. Additionally, the additional lubricants recondition and lubricate all working parts for a healthier engine, working properly and more efficiently.

Eliminox Eco Fuel Conditioner will prevent E10 causing separation and of course helps performance, saves money and significantly reduces toxic emissions.”

GROUNDBREAKING ADVANCEMENTS IN EMULSIFICATION OF HEAVY FUEL OILS (HFO)

ElimiNOX is gathering interest from Governments in several countries, and major Oil companies, by working to reduce carbon emissions in all forms of transport.

From Shipping, Coal and Oil-Fired Power Stations, to all forms of diesel engines, ElimiNox has recorded impressive results gained from incorporating the technology of SulNox Group Plc, SCi Med Ltd and Hielscher Ultrasound GmbH.

Impressive reductions in PM 2.5 + PM 10 with diesel (tests by Socotec UK) unheard of in the fuel additives market.

Results by HIELSCHER ULTRASOUND TECHNOLOGY BERLIN  include the production of an incredibly stable HFO/water emulsion (samples are now three years old and counting) using ultrasound. The emulsified product can be combusted more completely, therefore, resulting in a dramatic fall in particulate matter emissions that go a long way to comply with IMO standards. Test results using HFO/water emulsion and ultrasound has also proven a dramatic reduction in oil viscosity, therefore, making it more cost-effective to pump HFO over long distances at a much lower temperature.

The ElimiNox Eco product has now been certified by Bureau Veritas to be compliant with EN590 fuel and an increase of over 30% improvement in Lubricity.

The UK government is making changes to red diesel (off-road diesel) taxation. From 1st April 2022 it is removing tax relief for red diesel for several industries – effectively a ban on red diesel for many of its current users. Therefore, from April 2022, the entitlement to use red diesel and rebated fuels will be far more restrictive than the current rules.

At Budget 2020, the UK government announced that it would remove the entitlement to use red diesel (gas oil) and rebated biodiesel for many sectors and applications, as of 1 April 2022. The move is intended to reduce the commercial use of red diesel, compelling a range of industries – including construction and leisure – to turn to other options such as unrebated white diesel or switch to cleaner alternatives.

From 1st April 2022, many sectors will lose their entitlement to use ‘red’ diesel and rebated biodiesel across a variety of applications – and construction is one of the industries that is most affected.

Red diesel is just ordinary ‘white’ diesel with a dye in it – but it is taxed at a much lower rate than white diesel. This rebated red fuel was introduced as a concession for certain industrial users in off-highway applications because fuel duty was mainly intended to be a tax on road vehicles.

Changes to this regime were announced by the UK government during Budget 2020 as part of the drive to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

After the April 2022 deadline most current users of red diesel will have to switch to white diesel instead. Taxing most users at the full rate is intended to reflect the impact of the emissions they produce, while also promoting the use of cleaner alternatives.

One of the most significant changes is that heavy plant and equipment of all kinds, including NRMM (non-road mobile machinery, e.g. bulldozers and cranes), will no longer be permitted to run on red diesel when used for construction purposes. The construction industry will also be affected by the loss of eligibility to use red
diesel for heating and power generation on-site.

ElimiNOX Eco™ is well placed to help address the increased costs through the real world proven improvement in fuel efficiency returning 8-9% improvement.

While the total carbon footprint of HVO is considerably less than mineral diesel there are a number of reports that indicate CO2 emissions at the point of use are only 4-5% lower than mineral diesel.

ElimiNOX Eco™ is certified as compatible with all forms of diesel (petrol and kerosene), has demonstrated significant emissions reductions across CO2+ and will deliver 20%+ reduction in PM2.2 with HVO.

Which users are affected?

The government has published guidelines that specify who can still use red diesel and in which applications. One of the biggest changes for construction industry users is that heavy plant and equipment of all kinds will no longer be able to run on red diesel when used for construction purposes.

This includes all non-road mobile machinery (NRMM), including excavators, dumpers and cranes.

The construction industry will also lose permission to use red diesel for commercial heating and power generation, for example when using mobile generators on construction sites.

Certain industries that also use gas oil heavily, such as rail, agriculture, commercial fishing fleets and non-commercial heating or power generation uses, will be exempt from the April 2022 changes.

It’s worth noting that red diesel permissions apply only to the way in which equipment is used, not to the type of equipment itself. So, for example, NRMM that can be used for both agricultural purposes and construction purposes will still be able to run on red diesel, but only in an agricultural context.

Industries that will no longer be able to take advantage of red diesel include:

  • Construction and road maintenance
  • Logistics and haulage (including refrigeration units)
  • Mining and quarrying
  • Oil and gas extraction
  •  Waste management
  • Commercial heating
  • Leisure
  • Airport operations and ports
  • Manufacturing (such as ceramics, timber and steel)
Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO)

Another member of the paraffinic fuel family, HVO is a drop-in liquid fuel alternative produced from vegetable fats and oils, such as cooking oil. Here, hydrogen – rather than methanol – is used as a catalyst, making HVO more clean-burning and ensuring a longer shelf life than regular (FAME) biodiesel. The HVO supply chain is currently being developed to ensure consistent high-quality, ethical supply, and expanded to support anticipated growth in demand.  As the production process removes all Sulphur additional lubricity agents are required to avoid increased engine wear.

Lubricity

Everybody knows what a lubricant is, and we use lubricants to reduce friction in order to prevent chaffing, scuffing and wear between two surfaces that are moving in relationship to one another.

Lubricity is the term used to rate the effectiveness of a lubricant, and a system of measuring this was devised by applying a controlled amount of friction between two surfaces, using the lubricant under test to protect these surfaces, and then measuring the amount of wear that occurs to rate that lubricant’s performance.

Understanding the results of a lubricity test

The function of a lubricant is to prevent, or at least reduce, wear between two surfaces. The lubricity test result is a reading of how much wear occurred during the test, or simply put “how much wear the lubricant failed to prevent”.

It follows then that a lower score indicating less wear is more desirable than a higher score indicating more wear.

Why is it important?

Lubricants prevent or at least reduce wear, which in some instances can be extremely costly to repair. Thus, the better a lubricant and the lower it is lubricity score, the more wear will be prevented, and the greater the value of the costs of repair, that are reduced and thus saved.

How Large is the pollution problem in the shipping industry?

What are the alternatives?

Many shipping companies have switched to Low Sulphur HFO from January 2020 in order to attempt to comply with IMO rules. Unfortunately, the low sulphur has had a disastrous effect on many ships’ engines and failures have resulted causing massive problems. This is likely due to the reduced natural lubricity of low sulphur HFO compared to traditional HFO.

What role do Scrubbers Play?

Scrubbers are essentially exhaust cleaning technologies that enable the use of high sulphur fuel whilst remaining compliant with low sulphur regulations. 5000 ships could install scrubbers by 2025 at a cost of c$15bn, payback is estimated 4 years  (source Goldman Sachs 30/05/18)

Much of the collected soot and harmful emission debris is sometimes dumped at sea which still causes significant pollution throughout ecosystems.

ElimiNox in conjunction with Sulnox and Scimed has an alternative cost-effective solution at a fraction of the cost of installing scrubbers using the technology consisting of ultrasonically mixing water, HFO and SulNox into a stable emulsion with similar or better attributes with ongoing maintenance kept to a minimum.

The current cost per scrubber system is around €2.5mn per vessel (source: Wartsila),

Although it can vary between €1mn and €6mn depending on the vessel size; for example, cruise vessels typically tend to be towards the top end of the range as they have two systems installed. An ultrasound/HFO/Emulsion System in comparison, would be  c25% of scrubber costs.

A similar system has been developed for deployment in coal-fired power stations which use substantial quantities of HFO as part of the fuel ignition process. The ElimiNOX delivery system is perfectly suited to power stations with their relatively simple combustion system and the anticipated benefits could be substantial.

There is no doubt that diesel (in addition to petrol) engines have contributed considerably to global pollution and as a result the UK government is introducing a ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel cars to be introduced in 2035. Many health issues such as heart and lung disease have been attributed to diesel vehicle pollutants and emissions of nitrogen oxides (Nox) regularly exceed safe levels in many cities, fuel prices are now hitting their highest levels in the last 7 years costing the average driver £72.70 a tank. Diesel vehicles produce the overwhelming majority of roadside Nox gases. The ElimiNox Eco product has now been certified by Bureau Veritas to be compliant with EN590 fuel and an increase of over 30% improvement in Lubricity.

ElimiNOX Eco™ will also clean all stored fuel when added to fuel storage tanks, and ensure diesel bug is both eliminated and prevented. The average miles driven per year for an HGV driver are 100,000. Commercial Vehicle Workshop called ElimiNOX Eco™ “a major breakthrough” in relation to its ability to dramatically reduce emissions across commercial vehicle fleets.

“After using ElimiNox Eco since May, we have been pleasantly surprised with the results showing a 8% improvement in MPG and an extended period of the Particulate warning light not illuminating, which confirms a reduction in PM emissions. As a forward-looking innovative company, we believe ElimiNox will undoubtedly reduce the carbon footprint of Besblock in the future. The fleet of 25 trucks has not suffered any detrimental effects during the period, nor suffered any fuel-related problems. We can recommend ElimiNox to any fleet owner. Since we have been using ElimiNox Eco the DPS sensor has not been activated that forcing the truck into limp mode, which normally happens every 8 weeks. We are very happy with ElimiNox Eco.

FAQs

What is ElmiNOX?

Prevents fungus growth and diesel bug. Designed specifically as a fuel conditioner, it is highly effective at preventing water contamination in all stored diesel fuels, heavy plant and machinery, including generators and on-road and off-road transport.

How does ElimiNOX work?

ElimiNOX is mixed with diesel at a 2000-1 ratio. It can be added directly into the fuel tank or storage tank before filling and mixes automatically

What Makes ElimiNOX Unique?

Other fuel conditioners in the market are mainly fuel demulsifiers that leave water at the bottom of the fuel tank, however they don’t solve the key issue, water. Excess water in the fuel system contributes to organism growth, corrosion and the build-up of deposits throughout the fuel system. Once ElimiNOX removes the water from the fuel, the fuel integrity remains intact as does the lubricity and viscosity. Eliminox incorporates the Technology of The SulNox Group Plc

Not only will going green help you save money, it will benefit the world around you. You will be able to make your home energy efficient while also reducing your electric bill. Continue reading to find some great advice to help you green your energy.

Solar panels are easy to install. However, before you do this, there are a few things that you need to take care of. The number one to think about is the amount of sun your home gets. You can’t take as much advantage of solar energy if your house gets a lot of shade rather than sun.

Consult a technician for more information about switching to biodiesel heating if your home currently uses oil for heating. Many systems can use biodiesels without any modification. Biodiesel burns cleaner and more efficiently than conventional petroleum, reducing your home’s environmental impact during the winter.

Dry clothes on a clothelines during the summer. The sun will dry your clothing for free and the summer breeze will leave it smelling amazing. They will smell fresher than if you used the dryer. You will also save on your utilities bills by line drying your laundry.

Use solar energy to provide hot water cheaply. Install a water heating system that uses solar power. Your options include direct circulation systems and indirect ones. Indirect systems are the best option for those who have frozen pipes during the winter.

Plan out and calculate your energy consumption rates for your home solar system for the winter months so that you know what you can consumer on a daily basis. That will help you avoid negative surprises in the winter, and it will give you plenty of leeway during the summer. An even better benefit is that you can sell your energy back to the grid in the sunniest of times!

Replace a water heater that is tank-style, with a model that is green and has no tank. These heaters only heat water when you need it rather than heating the tank constantly. This saves you on your gas or electricity costs. You can find tankless heaters that either supply an entire house, or just a single faucet.

Do some research and learn about passive and active solar powers. Using active power means storing energy for later use, while passive energy is about benefiting from the warmth or light of the sun rays right away. Active power requires the installation of solar panels, mechanical systems, and cells. While when you use passive they use the thermal energy from the sun in order to store energy inside the walls of your house and heat your household with it.

Swap your old appliances for newer ones that have an Energy Star rating. This is your guarantee that your new appliances will use less energy, and therefore cost you less to run. For freezers and refrigerators, the rating guarantees 20 percent less energy used, 40 percent for dishwashers, and at least 50 percent when it comes to washing machines.

Use the microwave when you can in order to save on energy consumption. Heating up your oven will use far more energy than a quick trip through the microwave. Take advantage of the microwave when you can.

It will pay off over time if you spend more on green efficient products in the future. While they are usually going to be more expensive, green technology products greatly reduce energy usage and, thereby, save money. It can also have a beneficial impact on the environment in the long term.

All energy efficient products will include the Energy Star designation and logo. If your appliance has an ENERGY STAR logo, then it falls within the guidelines set by both the U.S. Dept. of Energy and also the EPA. Sometimes these products offer tax rebates.

Add motion-detecting light sensors to the rooms in your house that you use most. Use these sensors to turn the lights off when no one is in the room, which will save you money as you use less energy. If motion sensing lights are working for you indoors, try adding them outdoors and in the garage, as well!

A good way to save on energy is to set your heat to 60 degrees while you aren’t home, or at night when you’re asleep. At this temperature, your home will use as little energy as possible. The resulting effect is energy usage cuts and money saved.

To increase your home’s energy efficiency, try weatherizing your home. You can reduce the energy needs of your home with energy efficient windows, heating and cooling systems, and by adding insulation and sealing ducts. Also, you will greatly reduce your energy bill.

Did you know that you can save on energy and money while doing laundry? Start in using moisture control settings that turns your dryer off when clothes are dry. Use the high speed setting on your washer to make drying time shorter. Always clean your dryer filters, and check your dryer vent for any blockages.

When you cannot make complete use of renewable energy throughout your home, consider options that will power specific areas of the home. For instance, maybe you can get solar panels that just heat the water in your home.

Greener living can start with the simple turn of your light bulbs while replacing them with new energy efficient ones and grow to become bigger home improvements. Some DIY projects can reduce energy costs and save money! Pick one small project and pretty soon, you’ll be on the path towards being green!

Switch to Eco-friendly forms of lighting. A variety of new bulbs, including compact fluorescent varieties, provide affordable alternatives to the incandescent bulbs homes have used for decades. They can provide the same amount of light as incandescent bulbs but use far less energy. This is a wonderful way to keep your home environmentally friendly.

As this article previously stated, being green doesn’t need to be time consuming or expensive. Making a few easy changes can lower your electricity usage and save you money. Keep these tips in mind, apply them and let your friends know about your good resolutions so that you can all assist the environment.
